The history and development of the Lucerne-based Carl F Bucherer watch brand is closely linked to the person of Carl Friedrich Bucherer. A visionary who created timepieces that moved with the times, in the truest sense, always combining extravagance and aesthetic appeal in extraordinary ways. In 1888, Carl Friedrich Bucherer opened a jewelry and watch shop in Lucerne, and his name rapidly became a synonym for quality and originality. His two sons were destined from the cradle to follow him into the profession: one learned to become a watchmaker while the other trained as a goldsmith. Today, the combination of these two artistic skills is still reflected in the perfect form of watches, which are truly pieces of jewellery.
This model, the Patravi represents traditional watchmaking artistry, the highest technical and innovative standards, striking design – all combined in one watch. This example, now discontinued is in excellent cosmetic (save for a pin prick mark on the side of the 1 0’clock lug) and mechanical condition, having just undergone a full service by Carl F Bucherer’s official U.K. service partner, Swisstec.

The service comprised a full dismantling of the movement, replacement of any worn parts, reassembly, lubrication, new gaskets and light refurbishment of the case as required. A new black leather strap was also fitted, together with new screws. The watch has a folding Deployant clasp. The watch itself is a 36mm x 48mm stainless steel Tonneau case with screw on case-back and screw-down crown affording the watch a 50m rating. Beneath a curved Sapphire crystal, the dial is stunning mother of pearl with diamond dot indices. There is a power reserve display at 6 o’clock, a GMT/2nd time zone sub-dial at 12 o’clock, and a date window at 3 o’clock. The GMT time is set independently via a button on the side of the case at the 10 o’clock position. The watch comes with the Swisstec service paperwork (and is under guarantee until May 2024). The watch will come with a generic box. All in all a beautiful and wearable, rarely seen watch.
